ABOUT

Working Out the Kinks (WOK) is a smart and sassy, yet down-to-earth comedy is Girlfriends meets Black-ish with a kinky-haired twist! It’s the first scripted series that focuses on the rapidly growing natural hair movement and highlights how the careers, love life, and identity of African American women are shaped and directly influenced by their hair. We follow lead character, Jada, and her over-the-top group of friends as they encounter situations like

●  People of other cultures who don’t quite understand her hair and how it works

●  Having to change her hair due to stigmas at work

●  What happens when someone TOUCHES her hair

●  and soooo many more!

In addition, it goes much deeper than that because it also explores how wearing natural hair is linked to self-identity and freedom of expression, but it deals with those things in a comedic way!

WOK has several celebrated writers and content creators on the team, including Chas Jackson, writer for the hit web series Awkward Black Girl  (produced by Pharrell Williams and Issa Rae) and William Alexander Runnels, director of Closet B.I.T.C.H. and Black Actress (produced by Tatyana Ali, Issa Rae, and Andrea Lewis).
